What’s your area of expertise?
Food and Beverage Catering | Simply Catering
First job you ever landed
Working for my family business, Simply Catering! My mother started the company when I was less than a year old so I have grown up in the special events industry–quite literally!
What brought you to the wedding industry?
Simply Catering specialized in large scale corporate events for over a decade before one of our clients begged my mother (our owner) to cater his daughter’s wedding and the rest is history!
A lesson you’ve learned the hard way in the wedding industry
You can’t be everything to everyone.
Favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon
Going to church, sharing a yummy meal with my family, checking out produce at my local grocery, binging on Netflix, or sneaking away for a nap.
Best piece of advice to someone new to the industry
You are only as good as your last event and it’s important to always under promise and over deliver to exceed expectations. Never underestimate the power of networking and ‘word of mouth’ advertising.
Best piece of planning advice to a new bride/groom
Know your budget before requesting proposals from vendors.
Some words you live by
The only way to succeed is to not worry about what everyone else is doing. Be your own competition.
Best tip for balancing work + home life
Create realistic boundaries, try your best to stick to them, but don’t beat yourself up if you slip. For instance, I have a rule not to answer emails once I am home for the day; however, if something crucial with a deadline pops up, I make an exception in order to take care of my clients.
Best moment of your career
Wow–this is a hard one because there have truly been so many over the years at Simply Catering, but the first one that pops up in my mind would have to be working with Pottery Barn for a Thanksgiving Special because Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite!
Coffee, Gummy Bears, and Watching Stranger Things on Netflix.
Your favorite Instagram account
I am constantly inspired by @ajoywallace, @thomascaterers, and @chefericl
What’s your favorite aesthetic?
I love it when moody mid-century and clean modern details mix.
Intimate or Par-tay? What size wedding do you recommend and why?
I LOVE intimate weddings! You have more room in the budget to add special touches throughout the night that your closest family and friends will truly appreciate.

What’s the first thing a newly engaged couple should do?
Communicate what is most important about the wedding and then honor one another throughout the entire planning process!
