With Cinco de Mayo upon us, I just HAD to share a few of my favorite photos from last year’s fiesta themed birthday party for my son Boaz. A lil pro tip from this momma, if you have a theme you’re dying to use for your lil’s birthday party, do it in the first few years. I’m pretty sure this may be my last birthday party for Boaz that doesn’t include Ninja Turtles or Paw Patrol (face palm). I’m already trying to figure out how I can finagle my way out of those, but will probably need to set my design needs aside for a few years. 😉 So, for Boaz’s second birthday, I decided to LIVE IT UP, with a fiesta theme party. It was too much fun, and my sweet friend and trusted family photographer, Katie of KVC Photography, was sweet enough to come early and snag some photos of us + the decor before it was destroyed.
When it comes to a “themed” party, I always try to keep it simple. As a wedding planner, I’m completely against themed anything, so it’s always fun to let the creative juices flow on an even that is not wedding specific. That said, I still try to stay away from anything that is too over-done or gimmicky. I like to keep it simple and use the food + drinks as decor. Keeping things simple minimizes stress + keeps the budget in check + allows the details to stand out, since they’re not lost in a sea of paper mâché!
