What’s your area of expertise?
Wedding Makeup and Hair
First job you ever landed
It’s hard to remember that far back! My first makeup job was at a makeup counter at Norstrom in Seattle 20 years ago, but my first gig that I was absolutely ecstatic about was probably for Mandy Moore’s clothing line, Mblem. That gig offered opportunities that had me doing makeup for award shows and red carpet events in Los Angeles, and then ultimately had me doing the cover girls for a magazine called Zooey. I was afforded the pleasure of working with Kristin Bell, Kaley Cuoco, Nikki Reed, Anna Paquin and Sara Barielles to name a few.
What brought you to the wedding industry?
In between working with celebrities in LA, I did hair and makeup for weddings. Upon moving to Nashville, I chose to mostly concentrate on weddings and give brides that Lovely You with Lecia Doss celebrity treatment they deserve to have on their big day! It’s an incredible honor to be a part of making a bride and all of her family and closest friends feel and look amazing on such a special day.
A lesson you’ve learned the hard way in the wedding industry
I have learned that I cannot triple book myself for weddings. I have a very optimistic attitude and belief that I can do it all, but we all have to come to a point where we learn that doing it all is unnecessary. I have had to learn to let some of the artists working for me do weddings on their own when I am already booked. They represent me well and I have learned to trust their capabilities instead of stressing myself out by running from one wedding to the next!
Favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon
If I am not doing makeup and hair for a wedding, I either want to go flea market shopping for random vintage treasures (yes, I have an ET stuffed animal from one of those trips) or I love taking my dog, Gus, on a walk in Shelby Park with my boyfriend and then coming home and making a Pinterest dinner recipe with his help.
Best piece of advice to someone new to the industry
You must be reliable and quick to respond to clients. Also, I would say that it is really is beneficial to have a calm, but kind personality since a wedding day can often be stressful for many involved.
Best piece of planning advice to a new bride/groom
As far as makeup and hair, I always recommend getting a consultation done about two weeks before the wedding. Many brides attempt to do consultations on the same day as their engagement photos or their boudoir photo shoots to knock out two birds with one stone, but a bride will often change their mind by the time their wedding has come along and they have seen other Pinterest makeup/hair photos that they now prefer for their wedding. It saves to wait until closer to the wedding.

Some words you live by
Kindness and sincerity calm stress. I truly believe that everyone just wants to feel heard.
Best tip for balancing work + home life
I am very lucky to make my own hours and choose when I want to take on weddings or photo shoots. I don’t have children, so the balance isn’t too difficult. If I have a personal plans, I just mark that day off and offer any weddings that come up to the artists that work for me.
Best moment of your career
It was pretty exciting when I received my business license for the first time after so many years of freelancing in the business. Also, every time I see my work credited in a magazine or on a blog, I feel a real sense of pride. Kaley Cuoco was my first cover girl and I actually went to the newsstand in LA despite having a really bad flu so that I could take a photo in front of the stand with the magazine!
I’m pretty gluttonous when it comes to Sour Patch Kids. I down a bag of those each day! Sour Patch anonymous groups… where are you??
Favorite Instagram account
@Hungvanngo is quite amazing and inspiring as a makeup artist! He does Selena Gomez and many other celebrities working out of LA and NY. I just love his looks. I also find a wedding photographer from Turkey named @ugurdemirov to have the most stunning photographs full of passion.

What’s your favorite aesthetic?
I love eyebrows! I think they make such a huge deference in creating a polished look that frames the eyes. My love for brows actually caused me to get into a side business of doing microblading.
Intimate or Par-tay? What size wedding do you recommend and why?
It depends on the bride’s personality! I would personally have something intimate because I enjoy quality time with the people in my life and might feel stressed trying to get time to talk with each loved one. However, it is so hard to narrow down who comes to your wedding and if you font have to make cuts, then why not have everyone?
What’s the first thing a newly engaged couple should do?
Bask in the excitement of being engaged!
