This couple and their Highlands, North Carolina wedding will forever be a favorite! Lindsay + Mark were originally supposed to meet through Mark’s sister-in-law (sometimes family members really do make the best matchmakers!). But Lindsay was not exactly thrilled about the idea of being set up, so she politely declined the offer. Well, fate had other plans for our bride and groom because months later when there was only one seat left at a local coffee shop, she wound up sitting right next to him!
The pair quickly hit it off and fell in love. Fast forward to the next August when Lindsay had to sadly cancel their trip to New York City that they had planned in October. With plans to visit her family’s lake house for a weekend away, Lindsay thought they’d simply reschedule their trip. But Mark told her to go home and pack a suitcase right away while he booked travel from Atlanta to NYC, and they were on their way out of town! What our bride didn’t know was that her soon-to-be-groom was planning to pop the question that October weekend. And he wasn’t going to let that opportunity pass him by!
It was during a romantic Manhattan sail at sunset that Mark got down on one knee, completely shocked Lindsay, and proposed to his bride! This couple has impeccable taste, so it came to no surprise to our wedding planning team that they fell in love with one of our favorite wedding venues, Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, NC. It was the wedding venue’s small town charm, unmatched service and renowned cuisine that sealed the deal.
L + M tied the knot on April 18th with a black tie meets Restoration Hardware vision. We knew Katie Werkin, Chancey Charm New York City Wedding Planner, was just the girl to help Lindsay bring her ideas to life! After all, the two both shared a love for Kate Spade and Lindsay looked stunning in her Jim Hjelm wedding dress with Kate Spade pumps!
Some of our wedding planning team’s favorite aspects of their wedding included their “secret code” to each other to ensure the special moments of their day were enjoyed and celebrated. When something happened that they wanted to remember forever, they would whisper their secret word to each other and take in that moment together. So sweet! Speaking of sweet, we also loved that our couple served donuts in addition to their wedding cake as a nod to their first meeting, as well as French macarons to honor where they fell in love. The donuts were a hit for an easy treat on the dance floor. And the addition of these personal touches was a sweet and thoughtful way to share their love story with guests!
