Virginia is full of beautiful estates and historic plantations that have been converted into beloved wedding venues. With stately grounds and historic buildings that have stood the test of time, it’s easy to see why brides flock to Richmond and Charlottesville for their dream wedding. Alana Futcher, Chancey Charm Washington DC, Richmond and Charlottesville Wedding Planner, dreamt up this shoot with Imani Fine Art Photography + the below talented vendor team to inspire Northern Virginia brides looking to plan a traditional wedding in a classic setting.
Here’s Alana to tell us more:
There is so much tradition and beauty that a plantation wedding venue has to offer. When I first decided on this location, I knew I had to incorporate family tradition and vintage design elements. I began focusing on the color palette and how I could utilize deep colors, with a contrasting cool color to represent tradition. Finding the antique dinner plates inspired my color palette and stood as the anchor of all the history behind a plantation. With the deep colors of the florals, I was able to bring out the cool color in the plates and in the two head chairs. The unique rentals, such as the vintage red couch, wine goblets, and church pews gave a modern touch to the history of the plantation. With a venue that speaks for itself with the various backdrops, a simple waterside ceremony setup is all that’s needed. I went with the various antique wooden chairs and an intimate backdrop to emphasize that a simple love based on traditional values can grow into the strongest of marriages.
