What did you do prior to joining Chancey Charm as our Houston Wedding Planner. What drew you to planning?
My story isn’t all that special. One day during my senior year of high school, out of nowhere I said, “I’m going to be an event planner.” I hadn’t even been to a wedding since I was six. But then I started dipping my toe in, first as an assistant director at a church, then as a day of assistant for different florists and planners in the southeast and I was hooked.
What’s your favorite part of the planning process?
I love getting to know other vendors as a Houston Wedding Planner! I’m incredibly blessed to get to work with some amazing talent. I may develop a design or handle logistics for our team, but these vendors are what make the vision come to life. Getting to see them do what they do best is nothing short of inspiring.
What’s your favorite style?
No way can I just choose one! I can choose some words to live by though, “effortless elegance.” These are basically my personal brand words, I say them all the time. I believe that no matter your style – classic, boho, nautical, modern, industrial, rustic – it should always be effortlessly elegant.

What’s your advice for someone thinking about becoming a planner or joining the wedding industry?
Every single job I’ve ever had started with a cold email, including this one. However, I didn’t start off asking for the lead planner’s job. I asked to shadow planners. When I showed up, I worked my rear off to prove myself valuable. Put yourself out there, show up, and prove you’re valuable to the team over and over again.
Why Chancey Charm?
The short and sweet version is the people. This team of supportive, encouraging, uplifting women isn’t all that common in this industry unfortunately. I was first drawn to Chancey Charm because of their website and because their philanthropy of choice – Hope International and Wellspring Living, anti-sex trafficking organizations – is one I, too, wanted to get involved with. Once I met Sarah and the rest of the Atlanta team, I was hooked. Everything that has happened with Chancey Charm and myself has just seemed like a total God-thing and I’m so excited to see where this adventure leads us both.
What’s your best piece of advice for a new bride?
Take your time. Breathe. I truly believe in taking whatever time you can – my husband and I took a month and a half – to not do any wedding planning and just enjoy being engaged. I’d be lying if I said it was easy, but your engagement is the shortest stage in your relationship and it is too sweet not to be savored.
What’s your favorite reception song, you know the one you secretly dance to in the back when you think no one is watching?
Oh, there is no secret dancing here. I will get down to ANYTHING. Right now, I’m loving Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” – but who isn’t?!
Do you have any pets?
I’m plotting ways to convince my husband we need a mini goldendoodle.
Do you have a hobby?
When Matt and I moved to Houston, we needed some community and a consistent workout regimen. We were connected with the incredible folks at Salt Power Yoga and were hooked. Power Yoga is a 60-minute sweaty, full-body workout that clears my mind and lets me enjoy my wine guilt free. If you’re looking for a way to feel your best in your wedding dress, you should check them out!
What’s your favorite flower or gown designer?
My favorite flower changes about every week, but right now it’s Icelandic Poppies, they have a stunning ethereal feel to them. I could probably write a novel about what gown designers I like in fifteen different categories, but my top two are Sarah Seven and Hayley Paige. The rest of the Chancey Charm team can tell you I can spot a HP gown anywhere.
What’s your favorite movie?
As you can probably tell, I’m terrible at picking favorites and movies are no exception, although I could probably watch The Devil Wears Prada for 24 hours straight and not get tired of it. It has so many great one-liners and monologues, but my favorite is Miranda Priestly’s famous “By all means, move at a glacial pace, you know how that thrills me.”
What’s your favorite restaurant in your city?
One of the best things about Houston is the diverse food scene! We’re constantly trying new restaurants. Right now, a few of our favorites spots are Brasil – order the salmon, trust me – Fluff Bake Bar – check out their Saturday Morning Bakesale – Camarata at Paulie’s – wine bar heaven with a yummy cheese and meat board – and A 2nd Cup – a non-profit coffee shop taking on human trafficking in Houston.
