What to Pack for a Destination Wedding (As the Bride!)

disclaimer: Occasionally we do share a paid affiliate link, receive a free product in exchange for our review, or accept paid advertising for a post. We also have thriving planner and venue partnership programs, which we love to promote here.  Please know that we only share things, people, and places we absolutely believe in and recommend.

Packing for a destination wedding as the bride is a whole different game. You’re not just prepping for a vacation—you’re showing up for one of the most important moments of your life, in another country, with a suitcase (or two!) in tow.

Here’s a bride-friendly, stress-free checklist of what to pack for your destination wedding to keep things organized, stylish, and photo-ready:

1. Wedding Attire Essentials

  • Wedding dress (always carry it on the plane!)
  • Veil or hair accessories
  • Undergarments, shapewear, and fashion tape
  • Reception or after-party outfit
  • Shoes (heels and flats—just trust us)

2. Beauty + Personal Items

  • Makeup and skincare must-haves (stick to what you know works!)
  • Hair tools if not provided on-site
  • Jewelry and special accessories
  • Perfume, deodorant, sunscreen, and any day-of touch-up products
  • Manicure kit or polish for touch-ups

3. Ceremony + Sentimental Details

  • Vow book(s)
  • Rings (keep them with you, not in checked baggage!)
  • Any ceremony programs or signage
  • Family heirlooms or meaningful keepsakes
  • Gifts for your partner, bridal party, or parents

4. Flat Lay + Detail Items for Photography

  • Invitation suite and save-the-date
  • Perfume bottle, ring box, and vow book
  • Jewelry and hair accessories
  • Fabric swatch or ribbon in your wedding colors

5. Travel + Admin Must-Haves

  • Passport and printed travel documents
  • Wedding timeline and vendor contact sheet
  • Marriage license (if getting legally married abroad)
  • Copies of important paperwork and IDs
  • Emergency contact info for you and your planner

6. Welcome Party + Extra Outfits

  • Rehearsal dinner look
  • Welcome party outfit
  • Farewell brunch outfit
  • Swimwear, cover-ups, and resort wear
  • A cozy travel day outfit for the trip home

7. Emergency + Just-In-Case Kit

  • Pain reliever, Band-Aids, allergy meds
  • Fashion tape, stain remover, sewing kit
  • Mini steamer or wrinkle-release spray
  • Snacks, gum, and water bottle for travel days

You don’t need to overpack—but you do need to be thoughtful about what will make you feel comfortable, prepared, and like the best version of yourself.
